The lords of some of the villages that opposed the Shadow Lord's rule launched a full-scale war against the him and his armies. With his Shadow Knights, he invaded the Overworld, attempting to take it over. Turned by anger, he began to amass great power and created an army known as the Shadow Knights. About 1,000 years after being banished, he took on the title of The Shadow Lord and was able to leave the Nether.
Over 5,000 years prior to the start of this series, a former Divine Warrior named Shad was banished to the dimension known as the Nether.
